Wheels of Hope.
Our programs in action.

Wheels of Hope is more than a bicycle donation program—it's a collection of four initiatives that use bicycles in different ways to serve our community.

Whether it's providing safe, reliable transportation, teaching bicycle repair and safety, recognizing students for positive character, or working with community partners to reach people in need, each initiative addresses a different community need.

Together, our programs help children, adults, and seniors access transportation, learn new skills, and stay connected to school, work, healthcare, and other essential destinations. While each initiative serves a unique purpose, they all share one goal: creating pathways to independence, opportunity, and stronger community connections.

Earn-A-Bike
Youth, Adults, and Seniors

Earn-A-Bike empowers youth, adults, and seniors to build confidence by working toward a goal they can be proud of. Participants learn bicycle mechanics, maintenance, and safe riding skills while actively repairing a donated bicycle under the guidance of Jack the Bike Man staff and volunteers.

By the end of the program, participants earn the bicycle they restored, along with a helmet, lock, and the knowledge to keep it safely on the road. More than learning how to fix a bike, participants gain practical skills, a sense of accomplishment, and reliable transportation that can help them reach school, work, and other essential destinations.

Character Counts.
Students in Title I Schools.

In partnership with 53 Title I schools throughout Palm Beach County, Character Counts recognizes students who demonstrate perseverance, responsibility, kindness, resilience, and other positive character traits. Teachers and school staff nominate students whose actions deserve to be celebrated, and each recipient receives a complete bicycle package, including a properly fitted bicycle, helmet, lock, and age-appropriate bicycle safety training.

This recognition goes beyond celebrating positive character. For many students, it means gaining reliable transportation to school, after-school activities, and other essential destinations. Our close partnerships with local schools also help us identify transportation barriers affecting the entire family, creating opportunities to connect parents and siblings with additional support through other Wheels of Hope initiatives.

Gotta Get A Bike.
Middle & High School Students.

Gotta Get A Bike is an after-school program for middle and high school students that uses bicycles to teach practical, real-world skills while introducing STEM concepts in a hands-on, engaging way. Over four weeks, participants meet twice a week to learn basic bicycle mechanics, maintenance, and safe riding while developing time management, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and other skills that prepare them for future education and career opportunities.

Students who complete the program earn a complete bicycle package, including a professionally refurbished bicycle, helmet, lock, tool kit, and age-appropriate bicycle safety training. By combining technical skills with active transportation, Gotta Get A Bike helps young people build confidence, develop practical skills, and discover new possibilities for their future.

Joyful Giving.
All Ages.

Joyful Giving provides free bicycle packages to children, youth, adults, and seniors facing transportation barriers through referrals from schools, nonprofit organizations, businesses, faith-based organizations, and community partners. By working together with our community, we can identify people who need reliable transportation and connect them with the support they need.

Every referral is carefully reviewed to better understand each person's circumstances and transportation needs. Whether it's getting to school, work, healthcare, or other essential destinations, Joyful Giving helps remove transportation barriers by providing a complete bicycle package at no cost, creating pathways to independence, opportunity, and stronger community connections.
